Mr. Mike Wheeler

Mike Wheeler, Executive Vice President and National Director of Advisor Operations, joined First Command Financial Services in 1977 as a Financial Advisor in Springfield, VA.

After six years as an award-winning Financial Advisor, he was promoted in 1983 to Director of Training in the company’s Home Office in Fort Worth, Texas. In 1986, Wheeler returned to the field as a District Advisor, managing sales operations at various offices in Colorado, Wyoming and Florida. He was promoted in 1993 to Assistant Regional Advisor, and during the next six years served in the company’s Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. Wheeler’s hard work during his first two decades at First Command resulted in numerous company awards for sales and leadership, including 20 consecutive Summit Club awards.

In 1999, Wheeler was promoted to the top tier of the field force as Regional Advisor of the North Atlantic Region. A year later he was again promoted and reassigned as the Regional Advisor for the Mid-Atlantic Region. In June 2001, Wheeler became the Regional Advisor of the Commonwealth Region in Virginia Beach, VA. He returned to the Home Office in January 2007 as Senior Vice President and National Director of Advisor Operations to oversee the company’s field force and related operations. In November 2007, he was promoted to Executive Vice President and elected to the First Command Board.

Before joining First Command, Wheeler served as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, he returned to school in 2008 to complete the Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program, an eight-week intensive course for senior executives.
