Major General Michael D. Ryan, USMC (Ret)
Mike Ryan joined Rolls-Royce North America, Inc. in October 1998 as Vice President Government Business. On June 1, 1999 he was promoted to Executive Vice President and charged with the responsibility of providing customer executive services for all Rolls-Royce military and civil programs in North America.

Prior to joining Rolls-Royce, Ryan enjoyed a full career serving his country as a United States Marine. His last appointment in the Marine Corps was as a Major General commanding the 2d Marine Aircraft Wing - a force of over 400 fixed and rotary wing aircraft manned by over 14,000 Marines and Sailors. He also served as Deputy Commanding General, 2d Marine Expeditionary Force and in that capacity, had the opportunity to command the largest and most complex multi-national (U.S. and U.K.) forcible entry exercise conducted since World War II.

Before these assignments in the operating forces, Ryan served as the Chief of Legislative Affairs (Marine Corps Matters) for the Secretary of the Navy and Commandant of the Marine Corps and earlier as the Head of Aviation Requirements for the Marines. Prior to his promotion to general officer, Ryan commanded four other aviation and ground units, including Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One. A highly experienced aviator, Ryan compiled over 3500 flight hours in a variety of fighter, attack and helicopter models, with the bulk of his time in the Harrier and Harrier II VSTOL fighter attack aircraft.

Ryan and his wife Judy live in Fairfax Station, Virginia. They have three grown children.
